The Women's Political Caucus of New Jersey hosted its annual Passion * Power * Progress Awards reception on Thursday, March 10th at the Hyatt Regency in New Brunswick. The event was a great success, honoring those whose leadership, civic involvement and professional efforts have helped make New Jersey a better place for women.
This year WPCNJ was delighted to present the following awards to:
* Wanda M. Akin, Esq., Wanda M. Akin & Associates – Mary Philbrook Award
* Assembly Majority Leader Louis Greenwald, Legislative District 6– Good Guy Award
* Marshall McLean, Bank of America – Good Guy Award
* Ørsted – Corporate Award
* Aisha Glover, Audible – Social Justice Award
* Chrissy Buteas, NJBIA – President Award
"Congratulations to this year's honorees for your well-deserved recognition," said WPCNJ Vice President of Finance, Sharon Shinkle Gardner. "Your hard work and dedication has helped elevate women's roles throughout New Jersey."
Special guest speaker Senate Majority Leader Teresa Ruiz celebrated the achievements of the evening's honorees and expressed the need for greater representation of women in politics and government.
The event was attended by State lawmakers, as well as several county and local elected officials.
The Women's Political Caucus of New Jersey is the only multi-partisan, pro-choice, grassroots organization dedicated to increasing women's participation in the political process and creating a political power base to achieve gender equality. We recruit, train, and support women candidates for elected and appointed offices at all levels of government and we sponsor community education programs designed to encourage civic engagement.
