The Democratic Task Force (DTF) of the Women's Political Caucus of New Jersey (WPCNJ) is proud to announce its endorsement of Mary Dougherty and Arlene Quiones Perez, Esq. for Democratic County Chairwomen.

The Democratic Task Force (DTF) of Women's Political Caucus of New Jersey (WPCNJ) is proud to announce its endorsement of Mary Dougherty for Morris County Democratic Chairwoman and Arlene Quinones Perez, Esq. for Hunterdon County Democratic Chairwoman.

Mary Dougherty is currently Vice Chairwoman of the Morris County Committee and has served as Chairwoman of the Morristown Democratic Committee for the past 8 years.

Lisa Chapland, Democratic Task Force Co-Chairwoman of the WPCNJ said, "We are proud to stand up and support Mary Dougherty's candidacy to lead the Morris County Democratic Committee. As a progressive Democrat and well respected municipal chairwoman, Mary has demonstrated her commitment to issues important to women and families. We have full faith that Mary will continue her passion and advocacy at the County level."

Arlene Quinones Perez, Esq. is General Counsel to the Northeast Regional Council of Carpenters ("NRCC").  She was the youngest council member ever to serve on the Clinton Town Council in Hunterdon County and was the only Hispanic woman in elected office in Hunterdon County.

"We are equally as proud to stand up and support Arlene Quinones Perez's candidacy to lead the Hunterdon County Democratic Committee. Arlene's breadth and depth of experience in politics ranging from a volunteer to candidate in addition to working in government in both the Attorney General's and the Governor's office to her work on the board of the Hispanic Bar Association is noteworthy.  We trust that Arlene will continue to share her own personal experience as an inspiration for women to become more engaged in the political process as she leads the County organization."

"Women make up over half of the population of New Jersey, yet there are currently only two female Democratic chairwomen serving as leaders among the 21 counties," Chapland continued.  "It's time to break the glass ceiling in County leadership, particularly in MorrisCounty where Mary would be the first women to lead Morris County Democratic Committee. With Arlene's election in Hunterdon County, she would be the first Hispanic woman to lead a Democratic County Committee statewide and second woman to lead the Hunterdon County Democratic Committee."

Somerset County Chairwoman Peg Schaffer, Esq. and Mercer County Chairwoman Elizabeth Muoio, Esq., are currently the only women leading Democratic county organizations in New Jersey.
