What We Do
WPC-NJ is New Jersey's authoritative voice for women involved in our state's politics. We are a multipartisan grassroots organization with a proud history of more than 30 years of increasing women's participation in the political process through these vehicles:

Candidate Recruitment - Through our state network of local chapters, we work with women who may wish to seek municipal, county, and state offices;

Campaign Training - WPC-NJ is a proud co-sponsor of the nationally acclaimed Ready to Run training sessions hosted by the Center for American Women and Politics, as well as a financial supporter of the Whitman Series political leadership training program;

Political Appointments - Our Leadership Development, Education and Research Fund supports the Gubernatorial Appointments to Boards and Commissions Workshop, a ground-breaking "how-to" appointments training session;

Financial Support - Last year WPC-NJ contributed over $35,000 to 22 legislative candidates, making us one of the largest statewide contributors to women candidates;

Campaign Support - Through WPC-NJ county chapters, we provide a network of volunteers to support women candidates by hosting house parties, distributing campaign materials, providing office support, and writing letters to the editor;

Public Speaking - The WPC-NJ Speakers Bureau speaks to business groups, service organizations, professional associations, and at other meetings about women in politics and how women can become involved in the political process;

Networking - WPC-NJ offers the opportunity to meet women involved in all phases of the political process. In addition to elected officials, candidates, and those involved professionally, men and women who support our goals attend events and look to us as the go-to organization for New Jersey women in politics;

Leadership - WPC-NJ provides a resource for other women's organizations for advice and answers on getting things done in Trenton.

Barbara Boggs Sigmund Award
The Barbara Boggs Sigmund Awards Reception is the annual fundraising event for WPC-NJ's PAC. The awards are presented to outstanding visionary women for their contributions. The event was named in honor of the late Barbara Boggs Sigmund, who was Mayor of Princeton Borough, Mercer County Freeholder, and a Congressional candidate. She was also the founder of Women's Space, a nonprofit agency that provides services to victims and survivors of domestic and sexual violence. She was known for her wit, her courage, her political skills, and her Southern graciousness. Barbara died in 1990 at the age of 51, but her incredible spirit survives and serves as an inspiration to many.
