President's Welcome
Welcome to the Women's Political Caucus-New Jersey website!
WPC-NJ is New Jersey's only multi-partisan women's political organization dedicated to empowering women through involvement in the political process.
Our mission, since 1971, has been
to increase women's participation in the political process and create a power base to achieve equality for all women. Simply stated, WPC-NJ
is New Jersey's authoritative voice for women involved and interested in the politics and governance of the State of New Jersey.
WPC-NJ carries out its mission by supporting progressive women candidates for both elective and appointive office. We sponsor campaign training
for candidates, along with education and training programs for those who want to become involved, but are not ready to run for office themselves.
The Caucus also provides information, training and support for women who aspire to appointive offices.
We make financial contributions to women candidates who support the goals of the WPC-NJ through our political action committee (WPCNJ-PAC). Our
Republican, Democratic and WAGG (Women Advocating for Good Government) Task Forces supply woman-power and campaign expertise to assist women running
for elective office. Members of the WPC-NJ maintain visibility at the state and local levels through testimony before legislative committees on issues
important to women and their families.
Twice each year, WPC-NJ recognizes and honors those who have made a significant contribution to the political empowerment of New Jersey's women through
our PASSION*POWER*PROGRESS Honors dinner in the fall (November 27, 2008 this year), and the spring Barbara Boggs Sigmund reception (March 13, 2008),
which benefits our PAC.
A recent study conducted by the Center for the American Women and Politics of the Eagleton Institute of Politics of Rutgers University confirmed that women
legislators of both parties are more likely than men of either party to work on legislation specifically intended to benefit women. For more than thirty-five
years, the Women's Political Caucus has worked to expand women's sphere of political influence. We invite women - and men - who share our vision to join us
in this effort.
Sincerely,
Sharon L. Weiner, Esq.
